MT Wars II: the empire (linguistics) strikes back

In this talk, a survey will be given of the major developments in MT during the last decade, with special attention for the interaction of rule-based and stochastic approaches.
The papers, which will be presented at the workshop, will be discussed, putting them in the larger context of the recent developments in MT.
A forecast will be given of how MT could develop in the next five years and on the potential of the ideas which are presented at the workshop, hopefully leading to a lively discussion.
